Dear Friends and Family,
It is hard to believe it has been a year since we lost Geralynn’s physical presence in our
lives. Although we can no longer experience Ger’s smile, laughter, and genuine happiness for
others, she is in our thoughts daily. Her memory makes us smile and her courage keeps us
moving forward.
We can not thank you all enough for your continued prayers, support, and kind words
throughout this past year. Nothing can replace Geralynn in our lives but sharing stories about
how she touched us all has helped us focus on who she was and not what she went through and
endured. At a time when we were grieving Geralynn’s loss, you not only shared in our grief, but
extended your hand in support of Geralynn’s Memorial Fund. For that, we thank you.
As you know, the mission of the fund is to carry on Ger’s vision of inspiring young
people through education. The past year was marked by working with the Inter-Lakes
Elementary School and District to identify opportunities to stimulate as many students as
possible through education. We are excited to share with you several ways that Geralynn’s
Fund, through your generosity, has been able to affect the lives of the students she loved so
dearly in the past year and what we hope will be many years ahead.
First, with the help of one of Ger’s dear friends and fellow educators, we were able to
provide much needed charging stations for multimedia learning tools in the elementary school.
Second, we have received word from the school that they fully support Geralynn’s Fund
providing several mobile education science programs during the 2015-16 school year. We
anticipate formal approval from the school board in August. The programs provided by Brain
Mogul Education (brainmogul.com) will offer grade appropriate, hands on science activities
designed to inspire all students. We will arrange multiple shows within the school which will
provide every student an opportunity to experience science in a fun and interactive way. Lastly,
we are in discussions with the school district to sponsor a team, if one is entered, in the national
UsFirst.org Robotics Competition. The UsFirst.org mission is to show students of every age
that science, technology, and problem-solving are fun and rewarding. Geralynn would be
excited to know that so many students will benefit from her legacy.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank your for your support this past year and for
helping us keep Geralynn’s memory and work alive. We will keep you posted on our future
progress as we work through our journey on Ger’s behalf and continue to find ways to inspire
students in her name.
Sincerely,
Stephen and Megan Fountain and the O’Brien Family
