2016 Update

Dear Friends and Family,

It is hard to believe yet another year has passed as we continue to fulfil our promise to

Geralynn and continue her vision to positively impact students. This year's Inter-Lakes High School

graduating class was in 5th grade when Geralynn began working with them as a paraeducator. She

truly cherished her role helping teach the 5th graders and enjoyed learning her new role from

Stephanie Howard while working with children in a school setting. Ger even eventually admitted to

her dad he was right…she should have been a teacher all along!

As you know the Geralynn Anne Fountain Memorial Fund was established to continue

Ger’s love for students and her desire to inspire them through education. The fund also serves as a

tangible way for us to feel Geralynn’s presence. She is always in our thoughts and not a day goes by

we do not miss her smile, her laugh, her warmth and her happiness for others. We know she is

always with us because there are too many signs to believe otherwise.

In November of 2015 we built on the previous success of Geralynn’s Fund and put in to

action a hands-on educational experience for the students of Inter-Lakes Elementary School in

Meredith, NH. With your financial help, and no doubt a nudge from Ger, we funded a program by

mobile education company Brain Mogul, which provided two interactive educational science shows

for the entire school. The classes participated in contests using everyday materials while also

learning the science behind their actions. To say the shows were a success is an understatement.

The excitement among the children was amazing and the teachers requested these types of shows

again. Without a doubt, Geralynn was with her students that day.

For the 2016-17 school year, Geralynn’s Fund was approached by the Inter-Lakes Schools

to help fund a program the administration thinks is a good match for the curriculum. We are pleased

to announce we will provide inspiration through education to the students by helping fund a yearlong

environmental science program for the I-L Elementary and Middle Schools. The program is entitled

“Naturalist in the Classroom” and is offered by Prescott Farm Environmental Education Center

(www.prescottfarm.org). This PreK-8 program involves teaming an outdoor educator from Prescott

Farm with Inter-Lakes teachers and uses the school grounds and surrounding land as an “outdoor

classroom” for learning.

The program which will span 8 months not only teaches the children but it also educates and

assists the teachers in developing activities, lessons and units of study the teachers can then replicate

each year for their classes. This will be a very meaningful program as it will not only impact

students this year but for years to come as well. We are very excited about this opportunity to once

again provide hands on opportunities for the young students to inspire them through education.

Finally, we cannot thank you enough for your support, prayers and kind words these past

years. Hearing stories or sharing pictures we have never seen before reminds all of us that Geralynn

touched so many people. Thank you for letting us know how much she meant to you. We hope you

can support Ger’s Fund this coming year.

Sincerely,

Stephen and Megan Fountain and the O’Brien Family
